Yesterday, I wrote a few words, and also did something that I almost never do: edit a story that is in progress.  I did this mostly because I came back to it after a week, and reread the beginning to see what the thing was about, and I realized I hated at least one paragraph in there.  So I pared it down before adding a few more words ( Read more... )

There are many nice things that I can say about Easton Press' leather-bound editions.  The first is that the sturdy construction and beauty of the books is a great way to ensure that those books worth hanging on to will be around in a few years (my paperbacks either get demolished or they get lent out and never seen again ( Read more... )

I'm actually quite happy with it.

Finally finished reading Dozois' Year's Best Science Fiction 28th Annual Collection.  These are big books but, as I've mentioned elsewhere, they are critical reading if you want to know what's up in the SF field - or at least that part of it which collects the SFWA crowd ( Read more... )

Inspired by an online meeting with old friends, by the fact that I am energized by a new house search and also by the fact that someone stole my licence plates on Wednesday, I wrote 700 words yesterday on a shared-world SF tale.  Or it may be that there is now a deadline set for that story.

Either way, a good count.
